Current setting for optimal 2300mah A123 charging?
On the Astro Flight A123 charger it states:"Charge A123 cells at 5 A". It was my understanding that these cells can be safely charged at a 4C rate, which is equivalent to a charge rate of 9.2 A - why the 5 A instruction?

Oh, it was my question too, but merf was faster.
Maybe do You know, what is the average cell life with 8 Amps charging?
Thanks:
Arpi

I'm using a Hyperion Duo, which charges at 10 amps.

The 5A instruction is to insure long life of the pack. I am using 8 to 10A to charge the packs in about 12 min. So far no problem, however I only have aprox. 25 or 30 cycles on the packs. Time will tell. Thanks - Pete.

123 cell life
On my 123 Cells that I purchased from MEC already in power tubes. I have about 60 cycles on them using an Astroflight 109. I have charged them at 6 amps when in a hurry and down to 2 amps when not in a hurry. The draw has been on a tango 45-10 on a Swift 16 castle 80. Both packs are consistant returning consistant flight times. EXCELLENT power choice!! The third pack that I have constructed from dewalt power packs is not as good, I have fried 3 different cells. could be unmatched cells.. I still LOVE the 123 system.
